Lillie Stanley Parker, retired university librarian of the Henry Madden Library at California State University, Fresno, passed away on June 25, 2018, at age 90. She was born on April 26, 1928, and grew up in southern California. Lillie graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1950, and with a graduate degree in Library Science in 1951. She began her career of 37 years as a junior librarian in the Catalogue Department of the then Fresno State College Library and became the successor to Dr. Henry Madden in 1979 to 1988. Lillie was married to John Parker of Fresno. They met through the Sierra Club and both enjoyed hiking, bird watching, books, the arts, and traveling to interesting places at home and abroad. Her husband passed away in 1990. A gathering to remember Lillie will be held at the Smittcamp Alumni House, California State University, Fresno, 2625 E.
