Richard Welton, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Hind's Hospice Home in Fresno, CA. He was born on May 25, 1936, in Los Angeles, CA, to Cecil and Dorothy Welton. As a 1958 graduate of California State University, Chico in civil engineering, he pursued his career in the public works sector for Fresno County, Tulare County, and Merced County. He worked 35 years earning many awards for his dedicated and outstanding service, retiring in 1996. Richard's special interests and hobbies included golfing, camping, hunting, fishing, building, and mentoring others. Richard will be fondly remembered for his creativity and expertise in building, strong work ethic, loving support of family and friends, being a lifetime learner and teacher, and living life to its fullest. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol, of 61 years; daughter, Kimberly and husband Joaquin; sons, Steven and wife Jeannine, and Kevin and wife Diane; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Doug and wife Jeannie, and Roger and wife Ramona. The family extends their gratitude to C-Care's Dr. Haseeb and his staff; Dr. Nakata and his staff; and Hind's Hospice staff. A Memorial Service will be held at New Hope Church, 4620 E. Nees, Clovis, CA, on Friday, June 15, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. The family is requesting remembrances be made to the New Hope Church building fund.
