Shirley was born to Queen Kelly DeRosier, and Robert C. DeRosier on July 19, 1923, in Grand Rapids, MN. When she was young, she moved from Minnesota to Superior, WI, where she lived a wholesome, simple life. In high school, she worked as a hospital aide, so she knew she wanted to be a nurse. She went to Detroit, MI to work at Grace Memorial Hospital and entered the Army Cadet Nurse program. Shirley served at Percy Jones Army Hospital in Battle Creek, MI, where they treated amputee soldiers during World War II. When the war ended, she married the good looking boy next door, Gene "Clarence Eugene" Hagberg, the United States Navy pilot. They had three children in Superior, then moved to Fremont, CA in 1959, where their youngest son was born, and moved to Prunedale, CA in 1962, where Shirley was a practicing Registered Nurse for many years. Shirley was a warm, caring person who loved her husband, her family, nursing, sewing, reading and people. The family would like to thank Dr. Steve Chooljian for 16 years of compassionate, attentive care; the staff and administration at Cottonwood Court for their compassion; St. Agnes Home Health and Hospice; and her many friends who made her life journey so rich. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Eugene Hagberg, Sr.; her brothers, Robert C. DeRosier, Jr., and Richard K. DeRosier. She is survived by her sons, Skip Clarence Jr. and his wife Jackie, Steve and his wife Anne, and Christopher and his wife Shirley M.; and her daughter, Sue Hedman and her husband Bill. Shirley is also survived by three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; three step-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren, and three step great-great grandchildren.
