Therese "Terri" Ann Grootendorst was born in Belfield, ND, on October 3, 1938, to Rose and John Tereschenko. She passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018, in Fresno, CA, at the age of 79. Terri was the youngest of three daughters, raised on a wheat farm in western North Dakota. She attended Saint Mary's High School in New England, ND, and the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND. After graduating in 1960, with a degree in English, Terri moved to California to pursue a career in teaching at Madera High School. There she met and fell in love with Edward Grootendorst, marrying in the summer of 1962. Together Terri and Edward raised their three children in Madera, and were active in the community. After their children were grown, they built a new home in Fresno where they have lived for the past 25 years. During that time Terri and Edward enjoyed traveling the world, sharpening their bridge skills, and most of all celebrating milestones and holidays with family. Throughout her life, Terri was known for her graceful style, devotion, and zest for living. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Mary N. Peters. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 55 years, Edward Grootendorst; daughter, Lisa Anne Lamm and her husband David of Walnut Creek, CA; daughter, Tonya Maria Grootendorst of San Francisco, CA; son, John Edward Grootendorst and his wife Jill of Fresno; sister, Frances R. Dabbs of Silver Springs, MD; and her grandchildren, Lauren Therese Lamm, John William Lamm, Jaycee Jane Grootendorst, and Jordyn Kate Grootendorst; together with a number of nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Terri's Life will be held at San Joaquin Country Club, 3484 W.
