Doris Dillon passed away on Friday, January 22, 2010 in Fresno at the age of 95. She was a graduate of Bell High School in Bell, Ca., University of California, Los Angeles, and received her teaching credential from Occidental College. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Ken, to whom she was married for sixty-five years. Doris moved from Los Angeles to Fresno with her family in 1955. She began teaching second grade at Ruth Gibson Elementary School the following year. She retired in 1975. She and Ken enjoyed traveling and both were active in the Wesley United Methodist Church. Doris was an ardent volunteer with the Fresno Art Museum and a member of its Board of Directors. In addition, she was involved with the Wednesday Club and the AAUW. All her life she remained inquisitive of the world, open to new ideas and accepting of people she met along the way. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Doris is survived by her sons, Frederick Dillon and Mark Dillon and his wife Jeanne, and their children, Lindsey and Michael Dillon. A Memorial Service will be held in the Fellowship Hall at San Joaquin Gardens, 5555 North Fresno Street on Saturday, January 30, 2010, at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any remembrances be made to the Fresno Art Museum, Wesley United Methodist Church of Fresno, or a charitable organization of your choice.
