My wife and I were saddened to hear of August's passing. He was a great professor and good friend from the 70's. We have fond memories of many Thursday evenings listening to Bach and discussing art and artists; especially Josef Albers. Rest in peace Gus.

Professor Madrigal was more than a teacher, more than a mentor, he allowed his students to believe in themselves. I will always remember his gentle and kind manner, his love of Spain and all things beautiful. May he rest in peace.

For many years, August was a dear friend and mentor to my grand daughter who is also an artist. We were sorry to have missed his funeral and a celebration of the life of a great artist.

My deepest sympathy to your family. Professor Madrigal was my favorite painting professor at the University of Bridgeport. I went on one of his student trips to Spain when I was 19, it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Gus was a patient teacher and an inspiring artist, I learned so much from him. He always had a smile and words of encouragement to share with our class. I will never forget him, and will think of him today as I work in my studio.

August was a classmate of mine, a quiet studious gentleman, respected by all who knew him.
we celebrated our 73rd year class reunion on Oct. 7th of this year & August was present. He will be missed all who knew this kind man.
