Carol Burkhalter Sprunger, 95, of Millington, Tennessee, formerly of Champaign, Illinois, died in the evening, Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at a local care home in Tennessee.
Born Dec. 25, 1925 in Clinton County, Indiana, west of Mulberry, she was a 1943 graduate of Mulberry High School and Lafayette Business College. She was office manager of Culligan Soft Water Service in Lafayette for 10 years before moving to Illinois where she was secretary to the minister and financial secretary of First Congregational Church of Champaign for five years. After moving to Tennessee, she was a 4-H Club Leader and treasurer of the 4-H Volunteer Leaders Association for many years. Following the death of her husband she did volunteer work two times a week in a nursing home. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Mulberry.
Surviving are two daughters, Suan Sprunger and Joellen S. Dimond (husband, Lee) and a grandson, Alexander Paul Dimond, all of Millington.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Blanchard L. Sprunger; her parents, Artus Earl and Etta Maude (Harshman) Burkhalter; sister, Evelyn B. Katzman; and two brothers, Evan Alfred and Merrill Paul Burkhalter.
A public visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021, at the Trinity Church of Mulberry 103 S. Main Street, Mulberry, IN 46058. The funeral service will be private with a livestream available for watching at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, with Pastors Greg Young and Phil Whisler officiating. Livestreaming may be found at www.gendafuneralhome.com and scrolling down through her obituary to the livestream. A private burial will be in the Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry.
