Candace Marie Hintz, 73, of Brighton, died Dec. 24 at home in Brighton. She was born May 26, 1945, in Herrin, Illinois, to Kenneth Meece and Dorothy (Elam) Meece. She graduated from Lakeside High School in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She married Wayne Hintz Nov. 28, 1986, in Washburn, North Dakota. She attended nursing school in Arkansas.
Candace moved to Brighton in 1972. A valued employee of Silco Oil (Tomohawk Truck Stop) for 34 years, she worked as a regional manager overseeing five truck stops. She was a faithful and active member of Zion Lutheran Church volunteering with youth services, nursing home visits and meals for shut-in members.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years; her daughter, Tonia (Randy) Keck, of Dacono; a stepdaughter, Toni Peterson, of Brighton; a stepson, Mickey Hintz, of Brighton grandchildren, Shandra (Ryan) Ozbun, Aaron Hergenreter, Zachary Segelke, Ethan Segelke and future great-grandaughter Madalynn Ozbun; sisters Carolyn (Don) Stokes, Cindy (Bill) Baswell, Debby (Rob) Meece and Kenny Meece, Hot Springs; brothers, Terry (Debbie) Meece, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Steve Arnold of Longmont; and brother-in-law Pete Peters, of Tucson, Arizona.
A sister, Pam; and brothers Tommy and Buddy, preceded her in death.
A memorial service was Jan. 3 at Zion Lutheran Church in Brighton. The family received friends after the service during a luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethesda Ministries.
