Oct. 21, 2012, our mother answered the call from her Lord to come home. She always considered herself a member of Gospel Truth Lighthouse Church, although her health kept her from attending. She loved to talk to the missionaries that came to visit, and the ladies' meetings that she was able to attend.
She was a homemaker, loved to cook. She spent the younger life working and caring for her children.
All who became acquainted with our mother loved her. She was always the life of conversation. She will truly be missed.
She was preceded in death by parents, Homer I. and Radie Crocker; brothers, Luther, Gene, Jack, Billy, A.B. and Homer; sisters, Alice and Ruby; son, James D. Gaskey; daughter, Sgt. Elzoria (Joann) White; grandsons, Eric Silvey, Joseph Brymer and Robert White.
Mrs. Gaskey is survived by son, Floyd (Bonita) Vaughn, Gadsden; daughters, Martha (Larry) Perkins, Rainbow City, Jamie (Homer) Camp, Boaz, Carolyn Wooley (Andy Pate), Attalla; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Our special thanks to Dr. Kenny Smith, for all the years of care for mother; Gadsden Regional Medical Center, seventh-floor nursing staff; McGuffey's Health Care; Hospice Nurse Ms. Candice and her special caregivers, Patsy Stephens and Juanita Battles.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
