Jack E. Gray, 78, Indian Springs, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007. He was born May 29, 1929, in Gadsden. Jack was a member of Gadsden High School Class of 1948 and a graduate of Jacksonville State University in 1953. He had a 30-year career in the U.S. Navy as a supply officer, retiring as a commander. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Berton and Bertha Gray; and brother, Albert Berton Gray Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean G. Gray; daughter, Carol (Harry) Caldwell, Indian Springs; two sons, Jerry Gray, Winter Garden, Fla., and Larry Gray, Jacksonville; sister, Hazel Jo (Pete) Pentecost, Anniston; sister-in-law, Mary Gray, Helena; grandchildren, Jenna, Phoebe, Laney and Caleb Caldwell, Indian Springs, and Morgan and Bonnie Gray, Rosewood, Fla.; and great-grandchildren, Lillian, Adrianna and Jesse.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday with service to follow at noon in the Chapel of Southern Heritage. The Rev. Jeff Vanlandingham will officiate. Interment in Southern Heritage will be private.
