Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directing.
David was a member of Abundant Hope Church, which he loved dearly, and a veteran of the Alabama National Guard. More than anything, David loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he cherished the opportunity to spend time with them as they grew. David had many outdoor hobbies, including hunting and fishing, was an avid fan of Nascar racing and loved cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide during football season. Those who knew David will miss him dearly and cherish his memory, remembering him as a lovable family man who was truly a friend to all.
David was preceded in passing by his parents, Jack and Margaret Payne, and brother, Jeffery Payne.
He leaves behind: his loving wife of 23 years, Joyce Wilbert Payne; daughter, Brandy Payne; son, Michael Payne; children, Jerry Smith (Tina), Tracy Smith, and Jason Smith (Tera); grandchildren, Danielle Nix (Wesley), Chelsey Peppers, Zack Pantoja, Sierra Payne, Nathan Otto, Jennifer Owen (Trey), Madison Hutchens, Anna Claire Hutchens and Noah Smith; great- grandchildren, Jace Nix, Brinley Samuels, Briana Peppers, and Henley-Kate Owen; siblings, Jackie Payne (Sandra) and Betty Jo Power (Alton); along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Abundant Hope Church Building Fund.
