Gary Lee Entrekin
Ashville - Gary Lee Entrekin, age 57, of Ashville, Alabama passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 01, 2021 at 2:00pm at Collier-Butler Chapel.
Bro. Ray Garrard and Bro. Jeff Thompson will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery-Egypt.

Gary was a 1983 graduate of Emma Sansom High School, and graduated from N.E. Alabama Police Academy on May 02, 1986. He worked at the Glencoe Police Department, Rainbow City Police Department, and the Etowah County Drug Task Force. Due to injuries he received while on duty on October 10, 1997, he retired from the Rainbow City Police Department as a Sergeant in the Detective Division. Gary was a member of Glencoe Baptist Church and a member of the Attalla Masonic Lodge # 383, a member of the Zamora Shrine Club-Gadsden, and the Fraternal Order of Police- Gadsden-Etowah Lodge #2. In 1998, he received the Alabama Legislature Law Enforcement Medal of Honor, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Gary was an avid Alabama Football fan and Nascar fan. He loved hunting and being outdoors.
Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Freida Entrekin; grandparents, Homer L. and Annie B. Entrekin, Fred and Pauline Vaughn; nephew, Dustin Helms.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kristen Entrekin Lawless; son, Chase Entrekin; parents, Connie and Barbara Entrekin; brother, Scott (DeAnna) Entrekin; grandchildren, Zander Lawless and Aleah Pitts; niece, Courtney (Blake) Bearden; nephews, Andrew Entrekin and Jeremy Brown;
two great-nephews Brantley and Jackson Bearden; a host of aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Glencoe Police Department and the Rainbow City Police Department.
Special Recognition to Retired Chief Morris Alexander and Rainbow City Captain Tommy Watts.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to the Etowah County Law Enforcement Memorial Fund, 128 South 8th Street, Gadsden, Alabama 35901.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, April 01, 2021 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

i highly respect and honor our great men in law enforcement.
i attended elementary and jr high school with mr connie gary’s father.
every one around ala city and gadsden knew mr homer, gary’s grandfather .
i now live in pell city and so upset and sad about losing such a man as gary was.
it is men like gary who has paid the ultimate sacrifice to love others and his country that keeps american great and free.
thank you mr connie and mrs entrikin for raising such a great man of character!
