James Hughes
Newberry - Mr. James Hughes, 92, passed away on Tuesday March 30, 2021 at E. T. York Care Center in Gainesville, FL. A native of Newberry, Fl. He was a member of Mt. Zura Full Gospel Church. Mr. Hughes was proceeded in death by his sons, Kenny Hughes, Steve Davis, and daughter Astralita Woulard. Mr. Hughes is survived by: children Penelope Hughes, Newberry, FL, Rozelle Griffin (Alphonso) Jonesville,FL, Rhonda Duncan, (Hanze) Gainesville, FL, Terry Hughes, Orlando FL., Eddie Kelsey, Columbus, GA, Fredrick Kelsey, Newberry, FL . Nineteen grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, other relatives, and caring friends. Funeral Service will be held Saturday April 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Legacy Park Multipurpose Center 15400 Peggy Road, Alachua Fl. Pastor Natron Curtis, officiating. Interment will follow in the Newberry Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Chestnut Funeral 18 NW 8th Ave, Gainesville, Fl. Visitation for Mr. Hughes will be on Friday April 09, 2021 from 2:00pm to 7:00pm at Chestnut Memorial Chapel, and on Saturday at the Legacy Park Multipurpose Center, one hour before the service.
Social Distancing and wearing a facial mask will be enforced regarding the CDC and the Alachua County Emergency Order, 2020-05. If you do not have a facial mask, one will be provided for you by a member of the Chestnut Funeral Home Staff.

I worked with mr James about 20 yrs.He was a funny enjoyable man,we drove trunks together.H is going to be missed by his family friends and coworkers.
