Obituary Condolences

Laurence Janney Stabler, Jr, 92, of Gainesville, FL, passed away peacefully on 1/5/19. He was also known to friends and associates as Jan or Larry. He was preceded in death by his first wife Helen, his son David, his sister Helen, and his brother George. He was survived by his daughter Anne, his second wife Karen (separated), his brother Tom, and his brother James.

He had several careers, for example building contractor, industrial and residential real estate, and manufacturing communication equipment.
Jan loved music, especially opera, bagpipes, and Ragtime. He loved art, especially the Impressionists. His favorite sports were curling and scuba diving. He was a member of the Barnacle Busters dive club in Gainesville, where he met his second wife Karen. Jan was very talented and skilled with his hands. He could build anything with wood, metal, and stone.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, 1/26/19 at 11:00am, at the Gainesville Quaker Meetinghouse, 702 NW 38th St., in Gainesville. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to .
