'BOB' RHYMES
Robert 'Bob' Rhymes Hendrix, 75, of Gainesville, FL, passed away on February 1, 2018 from viral pneumonia, surrounded by family and loved ones. Bob was born in Gainesville, Georgia on December 25, 1942. He graduated from Bolles Military School in Jacksonville and earned a Bachelor's degree in Building Construction from the University of Florida in 1974. He served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Bob was married to Patricia Anne Nugent on July 23, 1966; they were married for 51 years. Bob worked as a Director of Safety and Training at CROM Corporation for 34 years where he was known for his over-the-top enthusiasm for Halloween costume contests. He enjoyed playing volleyball, off-roading and spending time with his friends and family. He was also involved in volunteering for the United Way, March of Dimes, Habitat for Humanity and the University of Florida Student Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors. Bob never knew a stranger, always had a ready smile and was helpful to anyone he met. He is survived by his wife, Pat; daughters Amanda and Lara and his son-in-law Tom; his brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Jan Hendrix; and many nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Maurice Hendrix, as well as his sister, Barbara Egan. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on February 25, 2018 at the Baughman Center on the University of Florida campus. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Peaceful Paths of Gainesville, FL (http://www.peacefulpaths.org/support-us/donate/).
