Otto Dillon, 76, of Flowery Branch, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with
interment to follow in the Memorial Park South Cemetery. Dr. Stan Annandale and the Rev. Paul Wade will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Dillon was born on Sept. 15, 1934, to the late Golda Dillon in Cookeville, Tenn. He was E8 CSM retired from the U.S. Army with 22 years of service and was highly decorated. Mr. Dillon was a recipient of Vietnam Service Medal, nine Purple Hearts with 1st and 2nd OLC, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Silver Star, Bronze Star Medal, Korean Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal (3rdAWD) and Overseas Bars.
Mr. Dillon was a member of the VFW, American Legion, DAV, Airborne Special Forces and Green Beret. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Dillon is preceded in death by his twin brother, Osco (Joe) Dillon; brother, Gene Dillon; brother, Bob Dillon; Sister, Maxine Dillon; sister, Malene Dillon; son, David L. Dillon; son, Stacy Dillon; stepson, Donnie Furth; and stepdaughter, Ginger Furth.
Mr. Dillon is survived by his wife, Bonnie Dillon of Flowery Branch; son and daughter-in-law, Mark A. and Angela Dillon of Warsaw, Ind.; son, Anthony L. Dillon of Dahlonega; daughter, Missy Dillon Yearwood of Flowery Branch; daughter, Connie L. Dillon of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; stepdaughter, Debbie Furth of Statham; brother, Cyle Dillon, Cookeville, Tenn.; sister, Dorcus Willeford of Cookeville, Tenn.; sister, Ann Bowman of Columbus; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
