Jimmy was an active member of Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church, The Roy Head American Legion Post 16, and Sons of The Confederate Veterans. He was a retired businessman from the City of Helen and former City Commissioner. Jimmy loved dressing up in his German lederhosen and knickers to participate in parades and promotional events such as trade shows and even traveling to Germany for the Fussen Sister City project to promote tourism and goodwill.

He was born April 2, 1940, in Rome, Ga., his family later moving to White County where he graduated from Cleveland High School in 1958. He married his high school sweetheart, Ann Freeman, Nov. 21, 1959, at her parents' home in the Leaf Community. He attended the Woodrow Wilson College of Law taking evening classes while working full time. His college career was interrupted by the draft into the U.S. Army, 10th Calvary, where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam era.

He was preceded in death by his parents, C.F. (Buck, Buster) and Evalyn Teems. Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Ann Freeman; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and April Teems; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Mitchell Martin; grandchildren, Savannah Teems, Max Teems, and Nicole Martin; brothers, Randall (Cindy) Teems, Michael (Janice) Teems; aunt, Faye Carey; sisters-in-law, Frances Deaver, Bobbie Gibbs, Eleanor Roberson; brothers-in-law, Henry (Susie) Freeman and Branch Fleming; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church. The Rev. Paul Flynn and the Rev. Dave Fortner will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Flowers accepted or donations can be made to Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church, 1497 Holiness Campground Road, Cleveland, GA 30528.
