Maurice G. Dopp Obituary

Maurice G. Dopp, 87, was born March 29, 1922, in Fair Haven, N.Y. Maurice George Dopp enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941, serving until 1947 aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Saratoga and the attack transport U.S.S. Shelby in the South Pacific during World War II. He was an electrician by trade and enjoyed fishing, bowling, crossword puzzles and traveling. He died Dec. 2, 2009, in Gainesville.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Hazel (nee Bailey) of Flowery Branch; brother, Harry of Long Island, N.Y.; four children, David Sr. (Diana) of San Antonio, Texas, Linda (Edgar Sr.) of Oakwood, Deborah Krewson and Susan (James Jr.) Seymour, both of Flowery Branch; grandchildren, David Dopp Jr., Denelle Miller, Darien Dopp, Brian Dopp, Paula Nocera, Amanda Gillot, Edgar Gillot Jr., Thomas, Kyle and Tanna Krewson and Jennifer, Christopher and Tyler Corby; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Netta (Nee Wilkinson) and Harry B. Dopp; brothers, Melvin and David Dopp; and grandson, Eric Dopp.
Calling hours will be held in Oswego, N.Y., on Monday, Dec. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, with a funeral service immediately afterward. Spring burial will be in rural cemetery. A memorial service will follow in Georgia at a time and location to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Salvation Army.
