Henrietta Bennett Obituary

Mrs. Henrietta W. Bennett, 89, of Gainesville died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014.

A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mrs. Bennett was the daughter of the late James Oscar and Lillie L. Waters. She was retired from Home Federal Savings Bank, now known as SunTrust, after 27 years of service. A graduate of Braselton High School class of 1942, Mrs. Bennett was valedictorian of her class and a member of the state championship basketball team. Mrs. Bennett was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda B. and Carl Rogers, Gainesville; Joan B. and Frank Wilson, Big Canoe; son and daughter-in-law, Stan C. and Judy Bennett, Clermont; grandchildren, Jennifer Rogers Puryear and husband, Brad, Gainesville; Carlton W. Rogers Jr. and wife, Andrea, Amelia Island, Bennett Wilson and Taylor Wilson, both of Atlanta, Daniel A. Bennett and wife, Ashleen, Gainesville; great-grandchildren, Hartley Carter, Jackson Carter, Bradford Puryear, Ryals Puryear and Zachary Puryear, all of Gainesville; Carlton (C.J.) Rogers, III, Amelia Island; Amelia Rogers, Amelia Island; sisters, Elizabeth Little, Gainesville, and Jennie M. Martin, Arcadia, Fla.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Julian and Loretta Waters, Winder, Wade and Carolyn Waters, Talmo; sisters-in-law, Murdees Bennett, Eloise B. Mason, Jane W. Baker, all of Gainesville; Ruby Dean Waters, Braselton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harley and Jean Bennett, Junior and Patsy Bennett, all of Dawsonville; brother-in-law, Wiley Reed, Pendergrass. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Bennett is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 34 years, Cloys M. Bennett; one sister; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. The Rev. Earl Pirkle will officiate. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from noon until 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the General Fund at Central Baptist Church, 785 Main St., Gainesville, GA 30501, in memory of Mrs. Bennett.
