I was very sad to learn today of the passing of dear Uncle Doug. He was always so kind, generous and courteous, in all circumstances. I have but fond memories of times spent talking to him. My condolences go to Jill and family.

We are so grateful to have spent some time with Uncle Doug last August. We enjoyed hearing his memories of Gainsborough and the Trent River. Love you forever Uncle Doug. Mark and Elisabeth Cowley xox

Doug and Betty welcomed me as a member of their family when I became friends with Jill forty years ago. Beneath his quiet exterior was a man of warmth and charm, with a great sense of humour. Remembering him will bring many smiles amongst the tears. May he rest in peace. Jane Richardson
