D. Alverta Hoover, 92, of Curwensville passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the DuBois Nursing Home.

Born Sept. 15, 1928 in Curwensville, she was the daughter of Guy and Laura (Bennett) Lippert.

Mrs. Hoover was retired as a seamstress for the former Kent Sportswear after 40 years of service.

She was a member of the Curwensville Alliance Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for 45-plus years.

She was also a member of the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union Local #118C.

On Oct. 30, 1948, she wed Frederick Hoover, who preceded her in death in December of 1990.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Beatrice, Norma, Esther, Margaret, Arlene and Audrey; and brothers, Ralph, Floyd, Preston and Wilmer.

Mrs. Hoover was the last member of her generation.

Surviving are two sons, Frederick Hoover and his wife, Donna of Apalachin, N.Y., and Jerry Hoover and his wife, Barbara of Sioux Falls, S.D.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2 at the Curwensville Alliance Church, 725 Susquehanna Ave., Curwensville, with the Rev. Stephen D. Shields officiating.

Burial will be in the Bloomington Cemetery, Curwensville.

Friends will be received at the funeral home, from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, and again on Wednesday at the church, from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either: the Curwensville Alliance Church, P.O. Box 113, Curwensville, PA 16833 or to the Mahaffey Camp and Conference Center, 1559 Mahaffey-Grampian Hwy., Mahaffey, PA 15757.

I had the pleasure of being one of Alvertas care aides. She was the sweetest, most dearest lady that I've ever met. She will be deeply missed but forever in my heart.
