GASTONIA-Alva Carroll Matthews, 57, transitioned April 1, 2020 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.
She will lie in state for public viewing from 4 until 8 p.m. at Gregory Funeral Service, Gastonia
A private family service will be held Sunday at Armstrong Cemetery.
Others may view via livestream beginning at 12 noon at gregoryfuneralservice.com

When I first started working at Gaston Memorial, I worked with Alva in the kitchen. She had a great sense of humor and she made me laugh alot. I truly loved Alva as a friend. My heart goes out to to your family.
