I had another recollection of my Aunt Sylvia. For some reason, unknown,my parents, Morris and Minnie had to visit family in New York City. My Aunt volunteered to look after me while my parents were away for a week or more. I was treated as a member of the family-cousins Anita,Sandy and Rosalie. There was also a foster child named Oscar who lived with my Aunt and family. Aunt Sylvia was always welcoming and accepting of all who entered her door. One Summer I stayed with my Aunt and cousins in a little cottage in Val David, next to the Blacksmith

My auntie Sylvia lived on Duluth street,a few doors east of her mother,my Bubby,Dvoshe Schachner-Friedman. Her door, always open to everyone, neighborhood kids and my cousins. I kept my Sunshine 2 wheeler there, Dad,Aunt Sylvia's older brother, was having difficulty lugging my bike up/down 2 flights. My bike was accessible at all hours. My aunt didn't mind kids running in and out. Aunty Sylvia was a kind, accepting, loving Neshamah I will miss her.

My Auntie Sylvia lived on Duluth street a few houses east of her mother,my Bubby, Dvoshe Schachner-Friedman. My auntie Tsiril's home was open to all. There was no locked door. My dad, brother to Sylvia, found it difficult lugging my Sunshine 2 wheeler up-down 2 flights. My bike was kept at Aunt Sylvia's ground floor flat. I had access to my bike all hours. Thank you Auntie Sylvia. Her home had a large walk-in closet in the master bedroom. She kept her mandolin there. As a young woman she played in a mandolin orchestra. I saw a picture of her there. I wrecked her mandolin by trying to play it. I don't think she ever forgave me for that. Probably she did,as she was a forgiving Neshamah. My Aunt was a generous and loving heart and I shall miss her. G-d speed Auntie Sylvia.
