Doreen MASHAL Obituary
Peacefully, in her ninety-fourth year, on Wednesday, December 28, 2011. Devoted wife of the late Joory Mashal z"l. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Meeda and Barry Gerchicoff, Dr. Orly and Brian Simmons. Cherished Nana of David; Rachel and Miriam. Dearest sister and sister-in-law of Benyamin and Hanna Goor-Aryeh of Israel, and predeceased by her other loving siblings and their spouses, Violette and Eitan Benyamini z"l, Madelaine and Yehuda Zughyrar z"l, Shaul and Léonie Goor-Aryeh z"l. Doreen will be sadly missed by her large extended family and many friends. The family would like to thank her many caregivers at the Waldorf. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Monday, January 2 at 10:00 a.m. Burial at the Spanish & Portuguese Congregation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield. Shiva to be announced. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, (800) 616-8816, or to an Israeli charity of your choice.

Dear Mashal Family;
I have thought of your mother many, many times over the years. It may sound a little out there, but I feel her lovely spirit in my home, particularly in the kitchen as I am working on a meal and when the lavender tree starts to bloom in the springtime. Dear Meeda, Barry and Mashal family,
Joel and I extend our deepest sympathies on the loss of a beloved mother, mother in law and grandmother. We are in Florida until Jan. 7th. I wish I were with you to make life easier at such a hard time.
Your mom raised two brilliant daughters and I feel fortunate to have known her ( and taken her advice:" to marry Joel" --said on our first date!) love, Doris
