We just returned from being outside the country to learn that Harvey left our world. My dear husband Everett and I are heartbroken to hear the news. May his family be spared any further sorrow.
Harvey was a close union colleague and a strong defender of democratic principles. We were also colleagues with the Department of Political Science where for years he taught courses in American Government.
He was a beacon of light not only to his colleagues but to the thousands of students that were graced with his presence.
I know that he will continue to live in
our hearts forever.

It’s almost forty years since I first studied political science at Sir George Williams University. Somehow I seem to always begin my courses by having students read Genesis. Harvey has been touching my students here in Australia for over a quarter century. He was an exemplar of what a life of the mind ought to be.

although I never got to know Prof. Shulman as well as other fellow LAC-ers, he always struck me as someone living the life of the mind in a way both authentic and fruitful to his students - indeed a rare combination. I consider myself fortunate to have met him, and unfortunate not to have spent more time around him.

My deepest condolences to the entire Shulman family. He was an inspiration as both a teacher and a mentor, but I will remember him most for his laughter and smiling eyes.

Like many LACers, Prof. Shulman was a source of inspiration - a mentor. He will be sadly missed by all those who passed through his life, undeniably touched.

Prof. Shulman was deeply important and cherished mentor to me and many others at the LAC. More than that, he was a truly great man, teacher, scholar, and heart, always thinking of his students and their development into conscientious, mature adults. He will be greatly missed.
