In Bangor, Maine, on Monday, June 8, 2015, at the age of eighty-seven. Born in Bangor on June 11, 1927, son of the late Charles J. and the late Frances (Cohen) Bernstein. Predeceased by his wife of almost fifty years, Rhoda Sondon Bernstein; and survived by sons, Bud, Rick, and Harley; their spouses, Mark, Heather, and Kari; grandchildren, Joshua, Adam, and Marisa; an extended family of brothers, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends, and brother-in-law, Warren Sondon (Montreal); Myrna Sondon (Montreal), and nieces Wendy Sondon and Jodi Sondon (both from Toronto). Graveside service on Thursday, June 11 at 11:00 a.m., at the Tifereth Beth David Jerusalem Congregation Cemetery, Kehal Yeshurin Section, de la Savane. Contributions in Al's memory may be made to the Phillips- Strickland House, www.pshouse.org.

To be Bernstein family I would like to extend my deepest sympathies for the loss of Albert. I had the extreme pleasure of working with him many years ago at Marden'. He was always so much fun with his many stories and sometimes very much appreciated advice. He will be greatly missed.

Harley, so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. He worked with my husband for many years at Mardens. I always enjoyed speaking with him when I was in the store. He knew we went to school together. We also had many great conversations when we would run into each other in the grocery store. I remember how happy he was when he was going to move into his new "senior" apartment. He said "my boys have it all taken care of." He was so proud of all of you. I lost my Dad in 2000 and my Mom in 2012 (she was 93) it is tough. My thoughts and prayers are with you

Dear Buddy, Ricky and Harley. My heart,love and thoughts are with you. Al was a special person and we had many talks about vegetarian meals and phylosophy. He will always be remembered. There are very few individuals who come into your life who make a lasting impression, and Al was most certainly one of those individuals. Although I only knew him for a brief moment in time, I feel truly blessed for that time. I will never forget the wonderful conversations we had, his quirky sense of humor and his unique laugh.
I remember him talking about organizing and publishing, what must be boxes and boxes, of his journals and writings. What a read that would be!!!!!
