KATES, Pearl (nee Winter). Peacefully on Wednesday, August 24, 2006. Loving wife of the late Mac Kates. Devoted mother of Arlene Smilovitch (Hersh), Howard and Ken (Renee). Cherished grandmother to Stacey, Gregory, Matthew and Jason. Dear sister "Pearlie" to Sam Winter (Bertha), late Rosa Fund (the late Hy) and the late Charles Winter (the late Sylvia). Funeral service from Paperman & Sons on Sunday, August 27 at 10:45 a.m. Burial to take place at Baron De Hirsh Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at the Smilovitch residence from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. until Wednesday, August 30 at 5 p.m. Contributions in her memory may be made to Maimonides Geriatric Hospital.

Your mom was so special to me. I will always remember her as my very favorite Auntie as she was always there to listen to all my childhood woes. I know the loss you are feeling, mine is still so fresh. She's now with your Dad, our Bubbi, her sister and my parents and I'm sure they're having a wonderful reunion.
