God’s Angel
It seems like only yesterday, your smile warmed up my heart
Never did I dream that one day we’d be torn apart
All I can see is your face, every time I close my eyes
And no matter how I fight it, I cannot mask my cries
Your sweet voice is like a song that resounds in my head
The nights are long and lonely as I lie awake in bed
Asking god to comfort you and tell you to have no fear
The ones who love you are peaceful, for your pain is no longer here
You told me in my dream “don’t be angry, don’t worry, you’ll be fine”
I’m trying to take your advice though I feel I’ve lost my mind
Your eyes were crystal green and your face so young with hope
I struggle to survive without you and find ways to cope
The last time I spoke with you was the fateful night you died
You came to me in my dreams and I trembled and I cried
I couldn’t believe that god had come to take his angel home
I feel your spirit within me, yet I feel so all alone
So I’m praying to you now in hopes that someday I’ll see your face
You’ll always be the star I wish upon as I gaze up into space
I’ll kiss your portrait every night and tell you how I feel
And never let your spirit forget that my love for you is real
I’ll reminisce of all the times we spent talking late at night
And cherish all the strength you gave me to continue life’s fight
You were always there for me and I was always there for you
Despite all the hard times, what we had was true
You were my sister, my mother, my best friend
I will remember you as my angel until my own days end
As I finish this poem, your pain is released
So goodbye my sweet Julie, may your soul rest in peace…
