I met Nana six years ago when I was dating her grandson Andy, who is now my husband. From the first time that I met her, she made me feel like a part of the family. She had a kind heart, and I feel blessed to have had her in my life. I am so glad to have memories of her holding and laughing with our children. We will all miss her.

To the Family of the late Jean Berlin.
Jean was very well acquainted with both of my late parents, Shimshon and Esther Dunsky
I had the pleasure of knowing Jean, since I moved into Le Waldorf, some years ago.

I will always remember my Aunt Jean, a very special woman, powerful in character and demanding of a strong family unit. I came to know her very well in recent years as during my regular visits to Montreal I often visited with her for hours on end; she would not let me leave. She reminisced about her life as a child in Russia and told me stories of her youth growing up with her mother, brother, and the Freedman family. I was often shocked by her candor as she was generally a very modest person. I think she was also shocked at some of the things she told me as I remember her saying with a mischievous grin on her face, “…I’ve never even told my own children these stories”, and she’d giggle.
Last year, one of her neighbors at the Waldorf passed away and this lady left her a book of a collection of jokes. She was very touched by this gesture and because her hearing had become so bad in recent years, communication with others was limited. So she decided to memorize a few new jokes every day and she would spend her social hours telling these jokes to anyone who would listen. Let me tell you… she knew how to deliver a joke! She had them rolling on the floor; me too.
I will miss her and fondly remember her. My sincere condolences to the family.
Love, Billy
