LeRoy Truehart

HAWLEY - LeRoy Truehart, 69, of East Hawley Road, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Bay State Medical Center.

Born in Holyoke, he was the son of the late Raymond and Henriette Truehart.

LeRoy retired as a custodian from Smith College in Northampton and was a Vietnam veteran who served with the United States Army.

He was a chief of the Bear Clan of the Overhill Indian Descendants of Tennessee. He was a member of the Ashfield Rod and Gun Club and an honorary member of the Tiverton Rod and Gun Club in Tiverton, R.I., and formerly very involved in the 4H Club.

He leaves his tribal wife Roseann M. Cardello; two sons, Tony Truehart and his wife Melissa of Biddeford, Maine, and Joshua Truehart of Charmin, Conn.; three daughters, Lisa Sansouci and her husband Brian of Westhampton, Rochelle Truehart and her significant other Normand Lambert of Chicopee, and Kim Sansouci and her husband Steven of Springfield; two step-sons, Christopher LaFontaine and his wife Justine of Rhode Island, and Andrew LaFontaine and his wife Sarah of Georgia; a brother Donald Truehart and his wife Beverly of Easthampton; and a sister Carrie Silver and her husband Jeff of Huntington; his grandchildren Michaela, Steven and Nicole Sansouci, Reannon and Daniel Mounie and Montana, Alex, Samantha and Olivia Truehart; and several beloved nieces and nephews

LeRoy was predeceased by his former wife Margaret McCloskey, his son Kevin Truehart, his brothers Richard, Gerald and Dean Truehart and his sister Constance Guyette.

Calling hours for LeRoy are Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Boucher-O'Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant St., Easthampton, followed with a service at 6 p.m.
