AMHERST - Stanley E. Seymour, 96, of 24 Potwine Lane, died on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, following a brief illness.

Born Dec. 6, 1915, in Westhampton, he was the son of Claude and Christine (Aldrich) Seymour.

Stanley was married to Ruth S. (Eaton) on May 25, 1941, and they enjoyed 67 years together until her death on Jan. 4, 2008.

He was a delivery driver for Amherst College for 28 years, retiring in 1980. Previously, Stanley had worked for the Westcott Moving and Storage Company, Jones Lumber Mill and did farming as well.

A member of the North Congregational Church in North Amherst, Stanley enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and hiking with the Senior Hiking Group.

Survivors include his daughters, Carolyn McNary of Steese-Fairbanks, Ark. and Judith Guilford of Diamond Point, N.Y. and son David Seymour of Fairfield, Conn.; four grandchildren, Heather McNary, Todd Guliford, Heidi Puutio and Melanie Seymour; one great-grandson, Dean Carter; a sister, Winifred Hurd of Westhampton; and several nephews and nieces.

Besides his parents and wife, Stanley was predeceased by his siblings, Elmer Seymour, Helen Seymour, Gertrude Payson, Nadine Hanks, Burton Seymour, Merton Seymour and Carlton Seymour.

There are no calling hours.

There are no services at this time and interment in Mountain View Cemetery in New Salem will be private.
