Allen Exby
July 19, 1955 - August 7, 2018
Allen "Ace" Cormick Exby, of Grand Junction, Colorado, born on July 19, 1955, in Casper, Wyoming, to Ardyth Marie Exby and Harry Cormick Exby (both deceased), passed away at age 63, on August 7, 2018 in Grand Junction, Colorado of complications from a lifetime of Type 1 diabetes.
Allen graduated from Colorado State University in 1979 and Montrose High School in 1973. He worked in the Utility industry at Xcel Energy for 37 years as StorKeeper and Dispatcher until retiring in 2017.
Allen was married to his true love, Heather Dickinson Exby for over 30 years. He is survived by his son, Ian Cormick Exby; daughter, Anna Cherrington Exby; sister, Laurie Exby Stolley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Allen was an intensely curious man who explored areas as diverse as physics, time, biology, travel, engineering, economics, and cooking. He had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a great joke and a good laugh. Allen's hobbies were cooking, reading, camping, and scholarly learning.
Allen was fortunate to spend his last days at home, after an extended illness, surrounded by his family and friends in the shadow of the National Monument, one of his favorite places. Those who wish, may donate in Allen's name to HopeWest or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
Services will be private.
