Louise Pool
December 13, 1935 - May 5, 2018
Louise Pool died on May 5, 2018, in Grand Junction. She was 82.
Louise was born in Chicago, IL, on December 13, 1935. She started the All-American Insurance Agency in Grand Junction in the 1980s, and retired from the insurance business several years later. Prior to that, she held a variety of positions, including that of alcoholism treatment counselor at Bridge House in Grand Junction. She opened her home to foster children in the 1980s as well, and she helped to bring twelve-step meetings to the Mesa County Jail.
After her retirement from the insurance business, she served as the office manager of the Central Office of Alcoholics Anonymous. Later, she and her husband, Carl, purchased property in Salome, AZ to live in during winters. Several years ago, Louise and her husband purchased and began operating a restaurant during the winter months in Quartzsite, AZ. Louise worked as the bookkeeper for the business, returning with Carl to their home in Whitewater, CO during the summer.
Louise was open about the fact that she was a recovering alcoholic, and upon death she had sobriety of over 40 years. She enjoyed a good cup of coffee, conversation with close friends and family, and reading mystery novels.
She is survived by her husband, Carl Pool, of Whitewater, CO and Salome, AZ; son, Steven Bourne (Connie) of Buckeye, AZ; daughter, Laura Hernandez (Michael) of Austin, TX, and granddaughter, Alexis Jane Louise Hernandez, of College Station, TX.
No services are planned.
Memorial donations may be made to HopeWest Hospice of Grand Junction, CO.
