Ralph F. D'Andrea Jr., 65, of Grand Junction, passed away suddenly on November 7, 2014, at his home.
Born in 1949, in Montclair, N.J., he was the son of Ralph D'Andrea Sr. and Josephine Fastiggi. He graduated College High School on the campus of Montclair State University, and attended Rutgers University, receiving his Masters in Geochemistry from Penn State University. He worked for Bendix/Geotech in Grand Junction and later did independent market research and web support.
He authored and administered the Junction Daily Blog until his death on Friday, November 7th.
Ralph had a brilliant mind and a loving heart, desiring the best for his community and country and always willing to help those in need. A talented guitarist, he played in local bands in both Montclair, NJ and Grand Junction. Scientist, astronomer, ham radio operator, educator, computer whiz, musician, animal advocate, grandpa, family man and seeker of justice, he seemed to excel in anything that interested him.
He was preceded in death by his dear Carina Louise, the pride and joy of his life, in 2010. He is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl and her two children, Jennifer Devenny Fisher of Tampa, FL, her husband, Matt and children, Nate and Kate, and Bryan Devenny of Munster, Indiana, his wife, Kristen and their children, Tyler and Dylan. He is also survived by his sister, Leanne D'Andrea, from Salt Lake City, Utah, and numerous cousins and relatives on the east coast who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at Callahan-Edfast in Grand Junction, CO, on Thursday, November 13th at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Roice-Hurst Humane Soceity, 362 28 Road, Grand Junction, 81501, would be appreciated.
