Richard E. Walt
March 6, 1943 - April 16, 2021
Richard Edgar Walt was born March 6, 1943, to Robert and Alberta Walt in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The seventh child, and only boy, Richard was doted on by his six older sisters. He married his childhood sweetheart, Bonnie, in 1958, and together they had five children, Richard Walt Jr. (Dyann), Cheryl Baker (Steve), Robert Walt, Sandra Hall (Rod), and Roderick Walt.
Richard and Bonnie opened their home to over 200 foster children throughout their lives, and expanded their family through the adoption of four daughters and one grandson, JoAnnette Brown (Mike), Crystal Johnson (Richard), Sabrina Agee, Elizabeth Walt, and their grandson, Roderick Walt.
Richard was known for his strong work ethic and made his living as a plumber. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He exemplified wisdom, strength and generosity. His quick wit and sense of humor brightened the lives of those blessed to know him. Richard had a love for Canyon City, Colorado, and chose to spend his remaining time there, where he had the opportunity to enjoy the outdoor recreational activities he loved.
Survivors include sisters, MaryJean Pribble, and Barbara Cox; his children; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and his great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; four older sisters, and grandson.
