Tony E. Garcia

Tony was born in Grand Junction to Tony R. and Julia Schuster Garcia. He attended Grand Junction High School, and went into the Navy at 17 on the Buddy Plan with Larry Hooker in 1958.
He married Mary Lucy Woodburn in Leonardtown, MD. They had three children; Tony Garcia, Cheryl Derby (Ronnie), and Scott (Denise) Garcia; grandchildren, Tony Garcia III, Tyler Derby, and Shane Derby, and one great-grandson due in August.
Tony moved back to Grand Junction and married Carol Burk Small, whom he knew since school. His step-children are Tami Snowden and Aaron Small; step-grandchildren, Thomas Haas, Weston Denning, and Treva Snowden (who Tony named); and step-great-grandchildren, Kamden, Madisyn, Kynzlee, and Brayleigh.
After he got out of the Navy he went to refinishing school in Philadelphia, went back to Maryland, and worked for the House of Representatives. In that time he restored Grover Cleveland's desk that sits in the Smithsonian. He had his own refinishing business. He loved to fish and hunt, as well as travel to Maryland and South Dakota. He was always helping others.
Tony will be greatly missed by his family and friends, especially his sense of humor, jokes, and laughter.
Graveside services will be held Friday, August 17, at 3:00 Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
