Ruby passed away on February 14, 2019, in Grass Valley with family by her side. She was 95. She was born May 12, 1923, in Orland, CA, to Philip Rau (born in Russia) and Pauline Kluck Rau (born in South Dakota). Both of her parents were German and that was their first language.
Ruby attended Elk Grove High School, class of 1941, where she met Bill Tonini, who later in life became her caring companion the last 14 years of her life. During World War II she was a Clerk Typist at McClellan Air Base in Sacramento, California, where she grew up.
Later she was employed in Merced County and Merced City School Districts; Colusa Welfare Department; ending her career in human services as the Director of Trinity County Welfare Department in Weaverville, CA. She had a lifetime memberships in the CA Welfare Directors Association and in Beta Sigma Phi Zeta Chapter, Merced CA.
Ruby had many lifetime friends. She is still survived by her longest and dearest friend of the family, Amy Peterson of Honolulu, Hawaii. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Albert Lowell Gimblin; and a second husband, Walter Pabst.
She has four surviving children: daughters, Judith Seiler and husband, Bill Seiler of Fresno, CA; Jennifer Belben of Chico, CA; Joyce Ash of Auburn, CA; and son Mark Gimblin of Colusa CA. She has six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Ruby had a large immediate family in the Sacramento area. She was preceded in death by brothers, Alvin Rau, Arnold Rau, Victor Rau, and sisters, Ella Lippert, Marie Pollack, Tina Rau, Lillian Loverde, and Gladys Crary. Ruby is survived by many nieces and nephews.
At her request, no services will be held. Family and close friends will join together at a later time to remember and honor her life. At Ruby's request, people may donate to a charity of their choice.

Our Heavenly Father has given us a life span of 70-80 years if we are especially strong. May you celebrate a life well lived and loved by many. May the words of Psalm 90:10,14 bring comfort to the family .
