Anita Pauline Sanderson, 91, native of Anacortes passed away November 9, 2018 at Ashley Gardens Care Facility in Mount Vernon, WA.
She was born on February 27, 1927 to Margaret Smith (Nana) and Paul Baer.
Anita's life was her family, surrounded and loved to pieces by her husband, Lloyd, children, grandchildren and a myriad of beagles over the years. Next to her family, gardening was her greatest joy in life. Even at age 91, crippled and aging, she could be seen sneaking around her gardens whether she was supposed to or not. Anita used the flowers from her garden to adorn The First Baptist Church she loved and attended regularly.
She worked at Bank of Anacortes for close to 20 years, a job she loved helping many folks at the counter with her humor, smile and grace.
Anita and Lloyd loved walking, hiking, biking around the island and traveling in their fifth wheeler to various parts of Washington & Oregon and to walk the beaches.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister: LaVerne Rydberg; her brother Francis Baer and by her beloved husband of 66 years and our beloved father: Lloyd Sanderson.
She is survived by two children: Karla Williams and Terry (Gail) Sanderson; three granddaughters: Taya (Travis Christians), Taryn (Craig Topping) and Katy Sanderson; two step-grand-daughters: Laura Schonberg & Michelle (Brian Wheeler); seven great- grandchildren: Jacob, Kristofer, Gus, Wyatt, Colton, Logan and Marley and two step-great- grandchildren: Marin & Drew.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2018 at Evans Funeral Chapel with a Funeral Service at 11 a.m.
Reception to follow at 12 Noon at Secret Cove in Anacortes. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held later.
Family suggested donations may be made in Anita's memory to: Cat's Meow, AARF (Anacortes Animal Relief Fund), or Humane Society of Skagit Valley.

'Nita and I worked together at Bank of Anacortes, more than 35 years ago! We stayed in touch over the years, mainly through cards and letters. I still recall the Christmas letter she sent, singing the praises of Lake Chelan State Park, and ch-ch-ch of the sprinklers. Will miss your bright spirit. Thank you, Karla, for letting us know of your mama's passing. She was a loving soul, who touched me deeply!

To the family and friends of Anita Pauline Sanderson, please accept my condolences. May you find comfort knowing that those who died God keeps them in his memory. And at Psalms 116:15 they are precious in God's eyes

Auntie 'Nita was such an inspiration to me throughout my life. As my Aunt, she taught me many things. More recently, I absolutely enjoyed exchanging letters and cards with her these past few years. I know she is happier now, being pain-free, and once again being with her loved ones who went before her. In fact...I'll bet she, my Mom, and Aunt Dernie are probably at a beach right now...laughing it up and keeping a loving eye on all of us. I miss you Auntie....but we'll see you again some day!
