Perry S. Hatcher, 90, a longtime resident of the Skagit Valley, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 23, 2018 as a result of complications from Alzheimer's. He was surrounded with his loving family at the time of death.

He was born October 21, 1927 in Panhandle, Texas to parents, Akard and Georgiana Hatcher.

Perry graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1945 and subsequently entered the University of Washington. Perry was drafted soon thereafter and sent to Korea with the US Army and served for two years. He returned to the UW to complete his education, graduating from the University of Washington Dental School in 1954.

Perry married Sylvia Garberg and they had a daughter and two sons. They lived in Mount Vernon where Perry had a dental practice for 32 years. Perry was a lifelong UW Husky Football fan - GO DAWGS - regularly attending home and away games. Boating was a favorite pastime for the Hatcher family with summer vacations to the San Juan and Gulf Islands, and Desolation Sound.

In 1982, Perry married Jill Scofield Platis sharing 36 loving years together. They enjoyed cruising the local and Canadian waters for many years in Classique, their 1929 classic boat, before moving to Sun City, AZ in 1992.

The couple spent 20 years in the warm weather playing golf, tennis, dancing, enjoying music concerts and making many friends. During this time they traveled to France, Italy and the Caribbean Islands.

They returned to Skagit Valley in 2012 to be closer to family and friends making their home in Burlington. Perry was a life member of Mount Vernon Elks and several other organizations throughout his life.

Perry was preceded by his parents and sister, Akardine Hogan.

He is survived by his wife, Jill Hatcher; daughter, Sue Stewart; son, Scott (Lorri) Hatcher; son, Brian (Betsy) Hatcher; step-son, Damon (Tish) Platis; brother-in-law, Peter (Mary) Scofield; grandchildren, Sarita Stewart, Ina Stewart, Jamie (JW) Sikora, Jensin Stewart, Riley Stewart, Lauren Hatcher, Sonja Hatcher, Jamie (Rob) Kamber, Molly Hatcher, Alexander Platis and Austin Platis. Perry also leaves behind his dog, Charly.

Perry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and good friend. He will be missed by all.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Where The Heart Is for their care and support of Perry as well as Hospice of the Northwest.

The family suggests memorials be sent to Alzheimer's Research, Alzheimer's Assoc. of WA, 19031 33rd Ave., W., Suite 301, Lynnwood, WA 98036.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018, 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, 1607 E. Division Street, Mount Vernon.
