Geraldine M. Kessman went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 22, 2018.
Born August 31, 1927 in Hamel, IL, to Alvin and Beata Weishaupt.
She graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1945 and married Joyce F. Kessman May 1, 1948.
Geraldine was employed at the Selective Service in Edwardsville, Belvidere and Rockford, Illinois. She also worked for the Board of Education as well as Sundstrand, from which she retired in 1992 after 14 years. As a longtime member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, she always found a way to serve the Lord by lending a helping hand when needed, making baptismal banners, and her favorite, singing in the church choir. Geraldine's sweet beautiful soul blessed and enriched everyone around her. From her glowing smile, the twinkle in her blue eyes, subtle wit and caring ways, she was always a joy to be around. She truly cherished her family. Geraldine was devoted to her grandchildren, always supporting and encouraging them in the many activities they chose to do. The visits and pictures of her great grandchildren always brightened her day.
Geraldine is survived by her son Ned (Paula) Kessman, daughter Tara (Dave) Dooley, grandchildren Neil (Abby) Kessman, Leah (Matthew) Carlson, Breanna Dooley-Fleming, great grandchildren Andrew, Rachel and Jack Carlson, sister in-laws Doris Lee Kessman, JaNette (Jack) Miner, Gloria (Lynn) Perry, Jean Weishaupt, brother in-law Elmer Moehle, numerous nieces and nephews, many close friends and neighbors.
Loved ones that have passed on before, husband Joyce F. Kessman, parents Alvin and Beata Weishaupt, brother Ramon Weishaupt, sister Marilyn (Elmer) Moehle, brother in-law Gene Kessman and nephew Scott Nelson.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Cherry Vale Place for the compassionate care they gave "Miss Gerry".
A celebration of Geraldine's life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, Oct. 6 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church with a visitation at 10:00 am.
