Jeanne Trampe Obituary

Lois Jeanne Trampe, beloved Mother and Grandmother, age 82, of Edwardsville, Illinois was taken Home by her Savior at 7:40 p.m.,Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Cedarhurst in Edwardsville. Jeanne was a retired Lutheran School Teacher.

She was born December 21, 1935, in Hartford, Illinois, the daughter of the late Harold W. & Virginia (Hall) Seehausen.

She married Alvin H. Trampe on June 6, 1959, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2002.

Jeanne is survived by 1 son, Timothy Trampe of Wood River and 1 daughter, Andrea Trampe of Edwardsville; 1 grandson, Dibri Maassen of Edwardsville; 1 sister, Carol Barritt & husband, James, of Kingsley, Michigan; and 1 brother, Bruce Seehausen & wife, Anita of Glen Carbon. She is also survived by many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Jeanne was preceded in death by a brother, Marlin Dale Seehausen in 1946.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Edwardsville.

Jeanne graduated from Wood River High School in 1954. She then attended St. John's Lutheran College in Winfield, KS. She was a cheerleader there and also loved doing mission work all across Kansas. In May of 1956, she graduated with an Associates Teaching Degree. Her first call was to Luther Memorial in Cleveland, OH., as a Fourth grade teacher, where she taught for 2 years. She returned to Hartford in the summer of 1958. It proved to be a fortuitous decision. Within weeks of returning home, she met her love, Alvin Trampe, at a Sunday school meeting at the Lutheran church in Dorsey, IL. In the Fall of 1958, she began teaching Fourth grade at Holy Cross Lutheran school in Collinsville, IL. Upon finishing that school year, she married her beloved Al. She taught Kindergarten at the Lutheran school in Troy, IL. from 1959-1960 and then at Trinity Lutheran School in Edwardsville, IL from 1960 – 1965.

From 1965 – 1980 (and on), she cooked many wonderful meals, sewed many clothes, was the chauffeur to many athletic events, was a Brownie leader, and was the best mother EVER to her 2 children ~ Andrea and Tim. She enjoyed camping at Carlyle Lake, boating on the Illinois River, and long road-trips to just about everywhere. She belonged to many organizations, and sang in her church choir for many years. She loved her family and friends deeply and always enjoyed life, no matter sunshine or shadow.

She returned to college at SIU-E in 1980 and at the same time returned to teaching at Trinity Lutheran Edwardsville from 1980-1988. In 1986, she graduated with her Bachelors in Teaching. She moved to Milwaukee, WI., in 1988 where she taught at Oklahoma Ave. Lutheran School until she retired in 1998 and returned to her beloved Edwardsville. She remained faithful to her Savior all the days of her life, including her diagnosis of Alzheimer's. This example of faith was a blessing to all that knew the joy of her! She will be greatly missed. Her favorite Bible passage was Isaiah 49:16, "See! I will not forget you. I have carved you on the palms of my hands". PRAISE BE OUR LORD!!!

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. John Shank officiating.

Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Condolences may be expressed online at webefuneralhome.com.
