Elta Fern Long Obituary
Elta Fern Long

San Angelo, TX

Elta Fern Long, 76, went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2018 at her home surrounded by family.

Elta was born on January 2, 1942 to Bertie Pollock in Clarksville, Texas. At the age of seven Alonzo Cummings came into her life and from then on he was her loving Dad. She worked for Ethicon for 25 years and retired in 2002. The last 16 years she has devoted her life to her family. Her legacy of love for her family will live on in our hearts forever. She was married to her childhood sweetheart, Dennis Long, on June 10, 1958 in San Angelo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Long in 1995, by her parents Bertie and Alonzo Cummings, by her siblings James Perkins. Jeanette Wheeler, and Eddie Perkins, and by her lifelong best friend Ruth Shepheard.

Elta is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Jimmy Dickey of San Angelo, Susan and Tom Cox of San Angelo, and Lynn and Jeff Duncan of San Angelo; one son and daughter-in-law Scott and Trixie Long of San Angelo; her six pack (grandchildren) and spouses, Justin and Stacie, Brandon and Kelly, Amy and Jasson, Chelsea and Ricky, Ashley and Kyle, Hollye and Matt, and her pride and joy (grandson), Jordan and bonus grandchildren, Kelsye and Tyler; 22 great-grandchildren; honorary son and daughter, Edward Shepheard and Vicki Lowry, that she loved as her own; Pranee Gomes, her hand picked sister. We would like to thank St. Gabriel's Hospice for their loving care.
