Alice HaavenAlice Elaine Haaven, 76, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Wednesday, April 7th at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Alice Elaine Bestul was born on November 20, 1927 to parents Isak and Bella (Westberg) Bestul in Bagley, Minnesota where she grew up and attended school. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bagley. She was united in marriage to Orrin Haaven on July 3, 1950 in McIntosh, Minnesota. They lived in Big Timber, Miles City and Helena, Montana before moving to McIntosh in the mid 1950's. Orrin passed away on March 18, 1956. Alice worked as a cook at the McIntosh Public School and later worked for 20 years as a Nurses Aide at McIntosh Manor Nursing Home until retiring in 1993. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Life Member of McIntosh V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #6891. She enjoyed being with her family, holiday gatherings, puzzles, collecting glassware, playing cards, playing with the kitchen band, and watching the Twins and Vikings on television. Survivors include three sons, Steven (Candace) of McIntosh, Terry (Linda) of Crookston, MN, and Bruce (Debbie) of McIntosh; 12 grandchildren, Tiffany (Doug), Jeff (Heidi), Jerod (Kim), Tamera (Shawn), Alison, Nicole (Brian), Dallas, Chelsy, Christina (Jim), Wendy (Bob), Lindsay, and Rainee; seven great grandchildren, Jackob, Austin, Jonathon, Noah, Zak, Max and Thea; two brothers, Ernest (Iva) of Bagley, MN, and Art of Forest Lake, MN; two sisters, Ida Irons of St. Paul, MN, and Mildred Carter of Chaska, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Orena Jean; two brothers, Bennie and Kenny; and two sisters, Gladys Norman and Clara Person. Memorial Services: Will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 10th at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Elton Jorde officiating. There will be no visitation.
