CHRISTENSEN, WILLIAM H. William Henry Christensen, age 71, of Greenville, passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2020 in the emergency room at Spectrum Health-United Hospital in Greenville after a sudden heart attack. The son of William T. Christensen and Augusta Ann (Berkhout) Christensen-Doane, he was born on Aug. 2, 1949 in Grand Rapids. William proudly served his county in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. A member of UAW Local No. 1485, William first worked for Powell Moving as a coast to coast driver and won several top performer awards, and retired from Rapistan/Dematic Corporation. He was a twenty-eight year member of the Montcalm County Sheriff's Posse, having attained the rank of Captain. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Fred Shortsle. Surviving are his children, Amber Christensen and William Christensen, both of California; two grandchildren, Naomi Christensen and Hollis Christensen; his siblings, Barbara & Mike Cole, Bonnie & Joe Jangda, Connie & Ray Cochenour, Nancy Shortsle, Mary Christensen, and John Christensen; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be greatly missed by everyone. Honoring his wishes, no public services will be held. Instead of flowers, William would have appreciated contributions in his memory to the Montcalm County Sheriff's Posse or the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Bill was a great friend. He will be missed. I would like to share an email he sent to Randy Jackson: Bill emailed me sept 17,2020. Friends One day, all of us will get separated from each other. We will miss our conversations. Days, months, and years will pass until we rarely see each other. One day our children will see photos and ask," who are these people?" and we will smile with invisible tears and say," It was with them that I had the best days of my life" RIP Good Buddy!
