Margaret Louise Daley

Great Falls - Margaret Louise Daley passed away on May 9, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 16, 1924 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho to Grace and Harley Hudson. Margaret was the 7th and youngest child in her family. She met the love of her life, Warren Daley, at a military dance, while Warren was stationed at Farragut Naval Training Station in Idaho during World War II. When he met Margaret at the dance, it was love at first sight. They married on September 8, 1944, before Warren was deployed to Hawaii. Margaret and Warren were married for 71 years, until his death on March 20, 2016. Their marriage yielded 4 daughters.

Following the end of the war, Margaret attended the University of Wyoming until Warren was accepted into the Pennsylvania Dental School. In Philadelphia, Margaret worked for Cities Service Company. On completion of dental school, Margaret and Warren moved to Great Falls, Montana where they raised their girls.

Margaret enjoyed snow skiing, golf, bridge and needlework. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing many of her daughters' dresses. She always had a book on hand and passed on her passion for reading to her children. Margaret also instilled a love for flowers and animals in her girls. She was especially fond of cats, nurturing many throughout her life. She was a life-long learner and adamant that her 4 daughters earn a college degree, which they all achieved as did all of her grandchildren.

Margaret was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Salvation Army Auxiliary, the Junior League and PEO. She served as a Campfire leader for several years as well as performing other volunteer jobs.

Margaret's favorite place to be was at the family cabin on Lindbergh Lake. There, she enjoyed water skiing, swimming, picking huckleberries, playing cards and cookouts with family and friends.

Margaret is survived by her daughters Christine (Michael) Casey, Connee (Jim) Moffatt, Kathleen (Jeff) Sowders, and Michelle (Jim) Belknap; grandchildren Erica (Forest) Mercill, Blake Larum, Kyle (Jocelyn) Juelfs, and Lindsey Juelfs. Margaret was also blessed with two great grandchildren, Brody and Brea Juelfs.
