Patricia Joan (Patty Jo) Chesnut

Belt - Patricia Joan (Patty Jo) Chesnut, age 68 of Belt, Montana, passed away peacefully from acute heart failure at a local care facility on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Services are pending due to the current pandemic.

Patty Jo was born on May 9, 1952 in Great Falls, Montana. She was the second of three children born to Edward and Billie Marn of Belt, Montana. Spending time with family and growing up on the Willow Creek and Little Belt Creek Ranches were the highlights of her childhood. Patty Jo attended and graduated from Belt Valley High School as the valedictorian before attending Montana State University. She also attended the Great Falls Vo-Tech where she obtained her nursing degree. In 1970, she was introduced to Terry Chesnut by a mutual friend, they fell in love, and they were married on October 23, 1971. Two children, Kally and Lance, made their family complete a few short years later. Patty Jo was a devoted stay at home mother for her two children, she actively participated, followed and traveled throughout all of their sports and school activities. Patty Jo was very proud to be active in her community where she served on the Belt city council, was very involved in the St. Marks Altar Society and taught catholic education. Once her children were older, Patty Jo went back to work for the Columbus Hospital in the pharmacy where she became a pharmacy technician. She later took a job with Snyder Drug, as a pharmacy technician, where she worked many years until her retirement. Patty Jo's absolute joy were her children and two granddaughters Karlee Jo and Kylee Ann - she never missed an opportunity to spend time with them.

Patty Jo is survived by her husband, Terry of Belt; daughter Kally (Randy) Permann of Monarch; son Lance of Great Falls; grandchildren Karlee and Kylee Permann of Monarch; brother Jerry (Judi) Marn of Belt; sister Kathy (Tim) Wootan of Glendive; nieces and nephews Jodi Murretta, Jeremy Marn, Jeff Marn, Kris Wootan, Shane Wootan, and Kamie Wootan. She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Billie Marn as well as numerous relatives and friends that have welcomed her home.
