Great Falls —Mary Ann Schipf, 88, of Missoula passed away on Tuesday, April 8th, 2014 at Peace Hospice in Great Falls. She had fought valiantly against ovarian cancer for more than one year and now rests peacefully with her Lord. Mary Ann was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on July 18th, 1925 to Bruce and Johanna Uithoven Downs.

Mary Ann married Robert (Bob) George Schipf on August 19th, 1952 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Together they moved all over the United States including North Carolina, Louisiana, Florida, Iowa, California, Oklahoma, and Illinois before finally settling in Missoula in 1968. Mary Ann worked as a lab technician before marriage and in Missoula worked as a Welcome Wagon Lady. She also volunteered at Saint Patrick's Hospital in Missoula for more than 40 years. Mary Ann was involved in several clubs including Friendship Force, Soroptimists, and Missoula International Friendship Program. As a member of Friendship Force, and also with family, Mary Ann traveled the world; visiting all continents except Antarctica. She also hosted many foreign visitors at her home.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Bob , sister Martha Stocking and her parents. Mary Ann is survived by her sons John (Annette) Schipf of Highwood, Jim (Annette Piccirillo) Schipf of Bozeman and daughter Karen (Chris) Roholt of Riverside, California. Mary Ann was a proud grandma to Kirsten (Dane) Brady, David Schipf, Kathryn Schipf and Ruby Schipf. She is also survived by Donald and Patricia Schipf and family of Mahopac, New York, the Norton family of New Jersey, her extended Swan family of Highwood, as well as friends worldwide.

As per Mary Ann's wishes there will be no public memorial service. Mary Ann and Bob's ashes will be scattered at the Schipf-Swan Ranch in Highwood at a later date.
