Cremation has taken place. A memorial service is noon Saturday, Feb. 9, at Croxford Funeral Home & Crematory, 1307 Central Avenue, Great Falls.

Bill was born Nov. 21, 1920, to Walter and Clara Brookings, in South Dakota. He was one of eight children.

Bill joined the United States Coast Guard and while stationed in Astoria, Ore., he met and married Gladys "Mickie" Klausen on Jan. 1, 1944. Together they bore three children and eventually moved to Great Falls.

Bill was a machinist at the Anaconda Company. He later became a real estate broker. He was active in the Cascade County Sheriff's Posse. He was always known as a great storyteller, and he authored two books. He also sculpted several bronzes.

He is survived by his daughter, Susie (Dan) Dailey of Great Falls; grandchildren Julie (Randy) Brewer, Shawn (Reid) Barton, Josh (Katie) Kavulla of Washington, Jake Fagan and Kassie Fagan; son-in-law Dave Fagan of Brady; eight grandchildren; sister Doris Kester of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews who called him "Uncle Eddie".

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife; son Billie; daughter Debbie Fagan; six of his siblings; parents; and several nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by his family and friends, but his colorful stories will live on in our hearts and memories forever.

The family is grateful for all the wonderful support given by the Cambridge Place gang and the angelic care given by Peace Hospice staff and volunteers.
