Heart Butte —Patrick "Bum" Calf Boss Ribs, 64, passed away unexpectedly on the 24th from a heart attack.

A respected elder of the Blackfeet Tribe and of the Crazy Dog Society, he was born in Browning on August 2, 1950 to Joseph Calf Boss Ribs III and Katherine Home Gun DeRoche. Raised on the Calf Boss Ribs Ranch at Heart Butte he was educated at Heart Butte and graduated from Browning High School before going to college at Haskell and then the University of Montana.

Bum married Forrestina "Frosty" Little Dog and they made their home on the family ranch where he had ranched and worked for the Heart Butte Schools for the last 31 years, first as a bus driver then as a ground transportation coordinator. He also worked for Blackfeet Housing. Bum was a jockey in his younger years. He was involved with the Boss Ribs Indian Relay team. Bum was well known at powwows and became a stick game player that was known throughout the Northwest & Canada.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Deanna Mountain Chief and Lucille Calf Boss Ribs as well a brother who died infancy.

Survivors include his wife Frosty; his children Pat Calf Boss Ribs Jr., Forrest (Christy) Calf Boss Ribs & family, Ronald (Lynelle) Calf Boss Ribs & family, Shelly Calf Boss Ribs & family, Kathy (Joe) Calf Boss Ribs & family, Lynnette (Dustin) Larson & family, and Cory (Lois) Beebe & family; siblings Delano Calf Boss Ribs, Rose (Dophy) Wildgun Ben (Elaine) Calf Boss Ribs, Annette (Darrell) Williamson, and Andy & Willa Nepoose; father in law Forrest Little Dog and sister in law Karrine MadPlume & family as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews and great great nephews & nieces.

A wake began Sunday at the Heart Butte School with the rosary being recited at 7 pm Tuesday. The funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday at St. Anne's Church. Burial will follow in the family cemetery at the Calf Boss Ribs Ranch. Condolences may be left at
