Tweedale, Alvin "Pete"
Alvin "Pete" Tweedale, 88, Green Bay, died Thursday, November 15, 2012 at his home. He was born September 11, 1924 in Sturgeon Bay to Clarence and Selma (Miller) Tweedale. Pete graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1942. He then began his service to his country in the US Army from 1943 to 1946. He was stationed in France and served in the Eastern European Theatre during World War II as an Anti-Aircraft Artillery Crewman. On November 5, 1946 he married Imogene DeWitt in Sturgeon Bay. They recently celebrated 66 years together. Pete attended the Badger Business College and obtained a degree in accounting. He was an Accountant with Morley-Murphy Company until his retirement in 1988.
Pete enjoyed his retirement by traveling with Imogene and his family to every state except Hawaii. He loved to fish, play cards and spend time at their cottage in Door County. Pete enjoyed being outdoors and gardening. He was a member of the American Legion Sullivan- Wallen Post#11 and a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Pete is survived by his wife, Imogene; six children and their spouses, Nancy and John Steffes, Myra and Frank Zeiske, Cynthia and Ed Schultz, Tina and Michael Coniff, Peter Tweedale, Scott and Jean Tweedale; 14 grandchildren, Robin, Wade, Brad, Beth, Tricia, Nathan, Whitney, Kara Noel, Colin, Brooke, Melissa, Rebecca, Holly, Max; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Sally Schopf; a brother-in-law, Ed Meier; nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Pollatz; a sister, Marcella Meier; a brother-in-law, Orville Schopf.
Friends may call at St. Mark Lutheran Church, corner of Oneida St. and Kenwood St., from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday. The Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the church with Rev. The Tweedale family extends their gratitude to Dr. Groteluschen and the staff of Unity Hospice, especially, Theresa and Tara.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Pete's name to benefit St. Mark's Lutheran Church or Unity Hospice.

"Ma", I just got the news. A sad loss indeed. I would have liked to have talked with Pete one more time. Never have I seen anyone face their own demise with more graciousness and courage. Now, please be gentle with yourself.
